Learn to define and describe the process components and boundaries you choose to improve. In addition, learn to recognize how processes cross various functional areas, the challenges that result from process improvement efforts, project management basics and process management for projects.
Measurements can and should be continuously improved just as other work processes are reviewed. Areas of study in this course include process analyses and documentation, probability and statistics, collecting and summarizing data, probability distribution, measurement system analyses and an introduction to Minitab and iGrafx.
The analysis process builds the foundation for improvement, redesign and control. It includes exploratory data analyses using multi-vari studies and simple linear correlation and regression techniques. In addition, it encompass hypothesis testing; the basics, tests for means, variances, proportions, paired comparison tests, single factor analysis of variance and chi square.
Improvements can occur in many ways. The topics covered are design of experiments (DOE), generating solutions using Design Thinking and innovation, assessing risks, piloting solutions, developing implementation plans, standardization and managing change.
The final process of Lean Six Sigma is sustaining the improvements. The topics covered are statistical process control (SPC), objectives and benefits, rational sub-grouping, control charts, validating solutions and the control plan.
